The movie Killers of the Flower Moon is an American Western crime drama film which is directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is based on the best-selling 2017 non-fiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI written by David Grann. The book is based on the series of Oklahoma murders in the 1920s in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered in the tribal land. The movie produced by Leonardo DiCaprio has a budget of $200 million which is the largest amount spent for a movie filmed in Oklahoma. The film focuses on the 4 years of horror in the Oklahoma county and throws light on a sickening conspiracy. The film is a masterful portrayal of the genocide by white Americans against the Native nations during the 20th century.

The movie Killers of the Flower Moon is planned to be released in 2023. Martin Scorsese said he instantly knew he had to make the book a movie when he read David Grann's book Killers of the Flower Moon. Martin Scorsese spent several hours together with Chief Standing Bear to help convincing the Osage Nation assist with the filming of the movie. Martin Charles Scorsese born in 1942 is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor, who has received many accolades, including Academy Award, Grammy Award, and the Golden Globe Award. David Grann born 1967 is an American journalist, a staff writer for the New Yorker magazine, and a best-selling author.

Killers of the Flower Moon Book

The book Killers of the Flower Moon is the third non-fiction book by the renowned American journalist David Grann. The book was published on April 18 1917. The book was in the top 10 non-fiction books of 2017 listed by the Time magazine. The book tells the story in an investigative style about a series of murders. These incidents happen in a community of wealthy Osage people in Osage County of Oklahoma. The same time there were big oil deposits discovered beneath their land. The official death count of the wealthy Osage victims is 20. But David Grann suspects that hundreds more may have been killed in the Osage County because of their ties to the oil in the region. The non-fiction book details the new FBI investigation of the Osage murders. The book also details the trial and conviction of cattleman William Hale who is the mastermind behind the entire Osage murder plot.

The official trailer is yet to be released, the below is a concept video that helps us what we can expect in the movie. The movie is a gripping tale of how the greed over oil and money transformed men. It is a story of how the natives continued to suffer as recent as the 20th century. An eye opener for all of us and a movie which was long overdue. The cries for help by the natives went unanswered for several years. Even though the duration is said to be 4 years, the actual duration went on for more than a decade during which hundreds were murdered in the Osage County.
